Abstract

The development of digital technology drives changes in human lifestyles, such as the emergence of digital natives, an era that was born due to difficulties in exchanging information and difficult situations such as Covid-19. Difficult situations have the potential for digital technology as a tool or means to overcome challenges and difficulties. Human life, which is increasingly relevant to technology, requires humans to make a digital transition. Data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association, internet users are 221,563,479 people out of a total population of 278,696,200 in 2024, this proves that technology has become part of human lifestyles. The widespread use of technology makes information and knowledge run very quickly, and platforms such as social media are one of the contributing factors. Social media platforms such as YouTube have become a tool for exchanging information, entertainment, and education. The functionality and convenience offered make it an attraction for its users, therefore social media platform developers will continue to update their systems, one of which is through an algorithm system, which is a system that compiles user preferences and personalization in using social media platforms. In this study, the functionality of social media as education makes the algorithm a system that can regulate user behavior, duration, and interest, therefore this study aims to determine how satisfied students are in utilizing the YouTube video algorithm as a learning tool.
