Respon Masyarakat terhadap Upaya Pemerintah Dalam Mengatasi Pendangkalan Muara Aik Katung Jelitik

Abstract

Muara Aik Kantung Jelitik Sungailiat is an estuary that serves as a vital source of income for the fishing community in Sungailiat, Bangka Regency. This estuary functions as a crucial link between docking facilities and the open sea, where fishermen seek their catch. However, several challenges confront this estuary. First, prolonged siltation has persisted for years, and no permanent solution has been found to restore the estuary’s condition, preventing fishermen from navigating to the docks without concerns about potential risks. Second, there exists a dynamic social reality involving the interests of the government, the fishing community, and PT. Pulomas. This study focuses on exploring these social realities through field research. It employs a qualitative methodology using an instrumental case study approach to gather in-depth data and analysis through interviews and direct observations. The findings reveal that the fishing community is highly dependent on the dredging activities conducted by PT. Pulomas to facilitate their passage and meet their livelihood needs. Additionally, there is a tug-of-war regarding policies related to the operational permits of PT. Pulomas, reflecting the interests of both the community and the government. Ultimately, PT. Pulomas was granted permission to resume operations after a temporary revocation of its license. In conclusion, the research suggests that if the government or the company focuses solely on business profits in addressing the realities at Muara Aik Kantung, without considering community needs, there is a significant risk of diminishing public trust and increasing dissatisfaction within the community.
