The Meaning of a Teaching Career and the Role of Principal Among Female Teachers in Catholic Private Schools

This research focuses on exploring the meaning of a teacher's career and the position of principal among lay female teachers. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods to obtain an overview of the subject's perspective on the topic under study. The description of the research results was obtained from the data collection process through observation techniques, interviews, and various literature studies. Furthermore, the literature study process was carried out by searching the websites of the ministries of education, culture, research and technology, foundation websites, as well as educational themed books as references regarding research topics. The research findings show that there are two interpretations regarding a career as a teacher and the position of school principal. On the one hand, there are female teachers who consider their career as a teacher and the position of school principal as activities with deep meaning, as a form of service and dedication. Meanwhile, on the other hand, there are female teachers who interpret their teaching career as a professional job and consider the position of principal as a consequence of the professional work they undertake.
