Post-2024 Election Governance: A Pedicab Driver's Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines rickshaw drivers' expectations for the new government following the 2024 elections. Through in-depth interviews with ten informants in Yogyakarta, it was found that they hope the new government will be clean, just, and pro-poor. The informants highlighted the importance of developing the tourism sector, supporting micro-enterprises, and continuing the social-aid programs of the previous regime. They also proposed digitizing rickshaw to adapt to the digital transportation market. Furthermore, regarding the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, although most were unfamiliar with the concept, they tended to be skeptical of it. The still-worrying economic and educational situation was the reason for their skepticism. This study emphasized the need for more inclusive political socialization.
