Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

A. General Requirements

The minimum standard requirements of Biota : Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu-Ilmu Hayati must be :

  1. Written in Indonesia or English.
  2. The length of the submitted paper is at least 6 pages and no more than 20 pages. Editors will evaluate if the papers are needing more pages than 12 pages.
  3. The use of a tool such as Mendeley for reference management and formatting is mandatory, and choose APA style.
  4. Make sure that your paper is prepared using the Biota : Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu-Ilmu Hayati manuscript template.

 

B. Structure of The Manuscript

The manuscript must be prepared and suggested present follow the structure:

1. Title. The title of paper is max 15 words, without Acronym or abbreviation. Author’s name and institution should be written accordingly.

2. Abstract. The Abstract has a maximum of 200 words; No citation; State in the abstract a primary objective, research design, methodology, main outcomes, results, and conclusions. Abstract provides a clear and concise summary of the background for the work, a brief description of the methods, a summary of the results, and a conclusion. The abstract should be written in a single space, 1 column. Keywords should be provided no more than 5 words and separated by commas (,).

3. Section structure. Authors are suggested to present their articles in the section structure:

  • Introduction

Contains about theories, research results and or current news that is the background why research is done, the formulation of problems and the purpose of research. The introduction should be written in single space with 1 column format.

  • Method

Describes materials and tools, samples, research design, how it works, parameters and how to measure and analyze data. The method should be written in single space with 1 column format.

  • Results and Discussion

Presenting the results obtained, illustrations in the form of tables, drawings or qualitative descriptions, then discussed logically, related to theories and similar results of previous research. Results and discussion should be written in single space with 1 column format.

  • Conclusion

Conclusions give answers to the problem or purpose of the research. Conclusion should be written in single space with 1 column format.

4. References. At least 20 citations which 80% of references published in the last 10 years, and a minimum 60% of scientific journal.

The layout should be as follows APA style and must use tool such as Mendeley for reference management and formatting.

C. How to Submit

Authors are required to submit manuscripts electronically by using an online journal system.

 

D. Screening for Plagiarism Policy

Biota : Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu-Ilmu Hayati has a policy of screening for plagiarism. We use Anti-Plagiarism Software "Turnitin" to check the authenticity article. The acceptable Turnitin percentage is maximum 20% in the similarity report.
