Abstract: This study investigates motivation, habits, and security of internet use by high schools and universities students in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. This descriptive and quantitative reasearch uses survey method. The findings of the study show that the strongest motivation is to show self existence, entertainment, and academic purposes. At some points, the habit of using the internet also makes the students face some risks such as verbal and nonverbal abuses, bullying, pornoghrapy, account hacking, and the risk of interaction with unknown parties.Abstrak: Penelitian ini menyelidiki motivasi, kebiasaan, dan keamanan penggunaan internet di antara siswa sekolah menengah atas dan universitas di Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, dan Bekasi. Penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif ini menggunakan metode survei. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi paling kuat adalah untuk memperlihatkan eksistensi diri, pencarian hiburan, dan penyelesaian tugas akademis.
