Author Guidelines
Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to GIAT: Jurnal Teknologi untuk Masyarakat must comply with the following guidelines. These requirements are intended to maintain consistency, academic quality, and efficiency throughout the editorial and publication process.
General Requirements
- The manuscript must be original, relevant to the journal’s focus and scope, and must not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript should present community service activities involving the application or implementation of science and technology that provide clear and measurable benefits to the community.
- The manuscript must be prepared using the official GIAT journal template. Authors must carefully follow all prescribed writing and formatting requirements, including the manuscript structure, page layout, font, spacing, tables, figures, and other technical specifications.
- The manuscript must be written clearly, systematically, and in accordance with academic writing standards.
- All sources must be properly cited, and the manuscript must meet the minimum number of references required by the journal. In-text citations and the reference list must follow the IEEE citation style.
- The manuscript must have a Turnitin similarity score of no more than 25%. Authors are required to submit a valid Turnitin similarity report as supporting evidence.
- The manuscript must be free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
- All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful contributions to the preparation and completion of the manuscript.
- Authors must ensure that the manuscript does not contain information that violates research ethics, confidentiality, or the rights of research participants, community partners, or other involved parties.
- All required documents and supporting files must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.
Editorial Screening and Revision
All submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial screening by the editorial team. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s focus and scope, template, formatting requirements, citation style, similarity threshold, or publication ethics may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected before entering the peer-review process.
If revisions are required, the review reports will be sent to the authors together with additional comments from the editor. Each revision request will include a specific submission deadline. Authors must submit the revised manuscript and a detailed response addressing the reviewers’ and editor’s comments by the stated deadline.
Failure to meet the revision deadline may result in the manuscript being withdrawn from the publication process or rescheduled for publication in a subsequent volume, subject to the editorial team’s decision.

By submitting a manuscript to GIAT: Jurnal Teknologi untuk Masyarakat, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the journal’s author guidelines, manuscript formatting requirements, peer-review procedures, publication ethics, revision requirements, and submission deadlines.
The editorial team reserves the right to accept, reject, withdraw, or reschedule a manuscript based on its academic quality, completion of the required revisions, and compliance with the journal’s policies. All editorial decisions are final.
