Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to GIAT: Jurnal Teknologi untuk Masyarakat undergo an initial screening by the editorial team, which generally takes one to two weeks. This screening assesses the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with the author guidelines, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external review.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo a double-blind peer review, in which the identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. The peer review process generally takes one to two weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
- Originality and significance of the work
- Clarity of the objectives and problem formulation
- Appropriateness of the methods or implementation approach
- Quality of the results and discussion
- Practical contribution and benefits to the community
- Accuracy and adequacy of references
- Overall quality and clarity of presentation
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial decision may be:
- Accepted without revision
- Revisions required
- Resubmission for further review
- Rejected
After the review process has been completed, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. The review reports will be provided together with any additional comments or revision requests from the editor. Each revision request will clearly specify a submission deadline.
Authors must submit the revised manuscript and a detailed response to the reviewers’ and editor’s comments by the stated deadline. Failure to meet the deadline may result in the manuscript being withdrawn from the publication process or rescheduled for publication in a subsequent volume, subject to the editorial team’s decision.
By submitting a manuscript to GIAT: Jurnal Teknologi untuk Masyarakat, authors agree to comply with the journal’s peer review procedures, revision requirements, and deadlines. The editorial team reserves the right to determine the acceptance, rejection, withdrawal, or rescheduling of a manuscript based on its academic quality, completion of the required revisions, and compliance with the specified deadlines. All decisions made by the editorial team are final.
