Pendampingan Penataan Ruang Berbasis Kebutuhan Pengguna pada Kantor Balai Pelestarian Kebudayaan Wilayah X

The Cultural Heritage Preservation Office (BPK) Region X serves both public services and institutional operations through its public and working spaces. Preliminary observations identified several spatial issues, including the separation of the reception area from the main building, a less interactive exhibition space, limited meeting facilities, and suboptimal supporting facilities and archival storage systems. This community service programme aimed to develop spatial planning recommendations to enhance public services and improve institutional operational effectiveness. The programme employed site surveys and measurements, user needs assessment, spatial planning concept development, design development, participatory consultation, and design finalisation through a collaborative mentoring process involving BPK Region X. The results demonstrate that the application of integration, efficiency, and spatial flexibility principles can improve the quality of both public and working areas. The proposed recommendations include the redesign of the front desk, communal waiting area, exhibition space, workspace, multifunctional meeting room, pantry, and archival storage system. In addition to producing spatial planning recommendations that address institutional operational needs, the programme strengthened collaboration between the university and its community partner through a participatory mentoring approach.
