Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) require security mechanisms that ensure confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and computational efficiency. This study analyzes Hybrid Cryptography for Cloud Computing and IoT, identifies dominant cryptographic schemes, evaluates their security and performance, and explores research trends and future directions. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines was conducted on 83 peer-reviewed articles published between 2021 and March 2026. The results show that AES-RSA remains the dominant scheme for cloud environments because of its strong security and implementation maturity, while AES-ECC is more suitable for IoT due to its computational efficiency and lower energy consumption. Recent studies also demonstrate increasing integration of Hybrid Cryptography with blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), lightweight cryptography, and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). Overall, Hybrid Cryptography provides an effective approach for securing Cloud–IoT ecosystems and addressing future cybersecurity challenges.
